Dieten is the perfect village to base yourself to enjoy the fantastic mountain scenery and the summer activities such as hiking, walking, and biking. Summer is the ideal time to explore the mountains and the local cuisine at one of the many alms or huts. Many of the Alms also feature music and other events over the summer season. The region offers various summer activities, from climbing, mountaineering, trail running and golf to archery and geocaching. Also, the drive from Maria Alm to Bischofshofen is one of the most scenic alpine routes in Salzburgerland.

Regional Cuisine
The Hochkönig region is proud of its regional and organic delicacies. The cuisine is traditional and healthy. Hearty delicacies, modern cuisine, and vegan specialities can be found on the menus of mountain huts and restaurants.
In Autumn, the valley celebrates the “Bauern Herbst”, and local restaurants serve traditional dishes featuring fresh game and locally sourced vegetables and fruit.
Herb walks
The Hochkönig herb walks combine a passion for regional gourmet cuisine, relaxing landscapes and beautiful walks. Discover nature on guided herb walks and workshops. Visit the 14 herb huts and learn about their traditional knowledge. The 14 huts offer gourmet cuisine with local herbs. A highlight is the Hochkönig Herb Festival, which takes place in July.
Family Fun
At the Karbachalm gondola in Mühlbach, you'll find the family-friendly grounds of Toni's Alpine Playground with a barbecue area and family-friendly hiking trails. The terrace offers an unobstructed view of the climbing tower, sand playground and water playground, so kids can safely have adventures while parents enjoy themselves. At the top station of the Karbachalm gondola is the 6.5 km long mountain cart track. In addition, next to Toni's playground, you can put your archery skills to the test on the 3D archery range.
Hochkönig Hiking
There are easy walks and for the more adventurous, serious ascents up the Hochkönig.
At the Pinzenberg Mountain Natur in Maria Alm, there are family hiking trails, a forest ropes course, a castle playground at Prince Lake and the forest slide park.
The 340 km trail network is well-signposted and awarded the Austrian Hiking Seal of Approval. Free guided hikes are offered in all areas of the region.
Hikers will enjoy seeing several artefacts from the mining past of Dienten, such as abandoned houses, an ancient toll station and scenic bridges.
Five long-distance hiking trails lead through the mountain. There are guided tours and hiking packages –where your luggage is transported from accommodation to accommodation. The highlight is the 74 km long ‘Königsweg” long-distance hiking trail. -Other tours include the Ach du grüne Neune, the Salzburger Almenweg, the Hüttehüpfertour and the Via Alpina.
Hochkönig Biking Adventures
Over 123 km of trails through the villages of Dienten, Maria Alm, and Mühlbach. With the bonus of the e-biking network with charging stations located throughout the Hochkönig region
For Mountain bikers, there are two trails with different difficulty levels and lengths.
The 4.2 km long Flowtrail Hochkönig Dienten. Starting at the Bürglambahn, you begin the 550 vertical m action-packed descent with numerous obstacles, an MTB Skill Area with a pump track.
The Natrunbahn is 3 km long and 352 vertical meters through forest and meadows.
